FSR PRO 2015 R3: Shanghai - Wengler limits the damages

Come Sunday afternoon it was Jacques Wengler who flew the flag for the Croatian-based outfit in his debut FSR race and the team's second. Will Barnes will have to wait until Bahrain to get another chance in the ZM Legacy.

Q1: With the team focusing on race pace in the week leading up to the race, it was no surprise to see Jacques further down the order than he should be. Lining up 15th on the grid was by no means ideal, but with an alternative strategy starting on the medium tyres, the team were confident of a solid top ten finish.

RACE

To the race start and a long first gear ment Jacques was in the clutches of cars behind through no fault of his own. Starting on the slower tyre meant it would be difficult to maintain position, but despite all this it wasn't long until Jacques was storming his way through the field. By lap 9 he had progressed up into 12 spot and was rapidly hunting down the BBR car of Christian Befumo.

This battle continued until lap 10, when Jacques made a surprise early pitstop. That wasn't the only surprising thing however, as his pit entry skills left much to be desired. Opting for 2 stints on the faster option tyre, Jacques then had the gruelling task of making his way through the field.

Some 10 or so laps from home and after a stellar drive from Jacques, the 29 ISR ZERO Sim Racing car was involved in an unfortunate incident at the hairpin. Until that point he had been running in a strong 11th position, but the rookie was forced to pit.

Having rejoined in 17th Jacques did a magnificent job of bringing the car home in P13, at least now we know that Jacques is perfectly capable of getting into the top 10, we just need a bit more luck.

We'll be back in Bahrain on the 17th May, but until then goodbye!
